With subzero temperatures predicted for tomorrow morning, the National Weather Service has issued a cold weather advisory for the Chicago area through noon tomorrow. Our schools will be OPEN and ready to provide a safe, warm learning environment for our students.
Please send your child to school in appropriate clothing for the cold weather: a hat, gloves, and a winter coat are a must in these chilly winter temperatures. All students will be allowed to immediately enter the schools as they arrive in the morning, regardless of the timing of the first bell. There will be no outdoor recess.
Please allow more time to travel to school and demonstrate best safety practices as more cars may be in the drop-off line. Please closely monitor your children as they await the bus and/or travel to school. No students will be marked tardy.
We appreciate your support as we partner to ensure the safe arrival of our staff and students tomorrow morning.
Additional information regarding D39’s Emergency School Closure Procedures is available here. If there is ever an emergency need that causes a change in our plans for school, parents/guardians will be notified directly via an email, automated call and text message from the school. Additionally, school closure notifications are posted to our district website and are relayed to all major Chicago radio and television outlets.
